• Shortbread, as easy as 1, 2, 3 (ingredients)

Shortbread is a favourite snack recipe of mine. Easy, quick, and very tasty!

There really is nothing to this recipe, so it should be easy for everyone.

    You will need:

    • Mixing bowl
    • Wooden spoon
    • Butter knife
    • Baking tray
    • (Optional) Rolling pin
    • Rolling board
    • Fork
    • Teaspoon

    • 150g butter
    • 75g caster sugar + another teaspoon to sprinkle after cooking
    • 230g plain (all-purpose) flour

    • Preheat your oven to 180C/360F
    • Put the butter and the 75g of caster sugar into the mixing bowl
    • With the back of the wooden spoon beat the sugar and butter together until youíre left with a creamy paste
    • Fold in the flower and work it until you have a dough forming
    • With your hands, squeeze the dough together to form a ball. If itís right, it should hold together nicely, have no cracks in it, and feel only slightly sticky to the touch
    • Flatten out with your hands, or roll out on to the rolling board into your desired shape, I usually attempt a circle, so I can cut it into segments. About 3/4 of an inch thick is about right in depth.
    • With the butter knife score the segment sizes you want into the dough to make it easier to cut when its cooked.
    • Use the fork to gently add two sets of holes into the dough for a nice effect.
    • Transfer to a baking tray.
    • Place on middle shelf in the oven and cook for about 15 minutes
    • Take out of the oven and allow to cool on the baking tray for about 10 minutes
    • Transfer to a wire rack and cook for another 20 minutes
    • Enjoy with a nice glass of milk!
